In the dock 13 people sentenced by magistrates

A DRIVER who was banned from the roads and had no insurance has been ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work. Iulian Cotiga, aged 26, of Roseneath Road, Bolton, was caught driving a Vauxhall Zafira in Reepham Road, Horsford, Norfolk, on January 9 last year. Cotiga pleaded guilty to driving whilst banned and having no insurance. He was banned from applying for a driving licence for nine months.

MAGISTRATES have ordered a woman to pay £410.40 after she failed to pay for a rail journey between Horwich Parkway and Manchester Oxford Road on May 16. Emma Valentine, aged 35, of The Crescent, Horwich, was fined £220 plus £184 in costs and £6.40 in compensation.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to do 200 hours of unpaid work after he was caught carrying a knife in St Helens Road, Bolton, on November 7 last year. Raymond Balogh, aged 29, of St Helens Road pleaded guilty to committing the offence.

A MAN who assaulted a woman in Bolton on April 6 has been sentenced to do 150 hours of unpaid work Akhmed Raja, aged 44, of Birchfields Road, Manchester was ordered to pay his victim £100 in compensation.

A MAN who arrived at Bolton Station without a ticket and claimed he had only travelled from Hall i’th’ Wood has been ordered to pay more than £400. Jordan Kendrick, aged 20, of Bradford Street, Bolton, told station staff on April 26 that he had got on the train at Hall i’th’ Wood but was informed that a train had not stopped there for 40 minutes. He ignored letters requesting an explanation and he was found guilty of fare dodging. Kendrick was fined £220, plus £2.90 in compensation and £184 in costs.

A BURGLAR who broke into Bolton Bathrooms on August 25 has been ordered to have treatment for drug addiction. Andrew Hayes, aged 42, of Roocroft Court, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence. He was fined £50 and must participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities.

A RANGE Rover Evoque driver has been electronically tagged after he was caught driving while banned. Hadrian Lord, aged 41, of Bolton Road, Kearsley, had already been banned from holding a driving licence when he was caught behind the wheel of the Range Rover in Chorley Road, Swinton, on September 19. Lord pleaded guilty to driving while banned and having no insurance and was given a community sentence which includes a 9pm to 7am curfew for eight weeks. He was also banned from driving for a further 12 months.

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 35 weeks after he repeatedly breached court orders. Timothy Nolan, aged 29, of Chorley New Road, Bolton, was already subject to a suspended prison sentence and a restraining order when he breached it by going to an address in Bentham Close, Farnworth, on October 19.

A MOTORIST has been banned from the roads for 12 months after he admitted drink driving. John Daubney, aged 30, of Coniston Avenue, Farnworth, committed the offence when he drove a Vauxhall Astra on Settle Street, Bolton, on September 6. He was fined £120.

A DRIVER who failed to stop after a collision on the St Peter’s Way slip road at Bradford Street has been fined £120. Dangiras Mikenas, aged 52, of Chorley Old Road, Bolton, was driving a Ford C-Max when it was involved in a collision with a Ford Transit van and a Vauxhall Corsa at the junction on June 9. Mikenas pleaded guilty to careless driving and failing to stop or report an accident. As well as the fine, 10 penalty points were added to his licence.

A MAN caught driving an Audi A3 without a licence or insurance has been fined £660. Mohamed Ahmed, aged 29, of St Helens Road, Bolton, who was caught driving the vehicle on Lister Street, Bolton, on February 24.

A MAN who stole a Fiat Punto and was caught drink driving in it has been jailed for 26 weeks. Liam Sandham, aged 29, of School Street, Little Lever, took the car without consent on May 5 and was drink driving in it two days later on Waterloo Street, Bolton, when he was banned from driving and had no insurance. Sandham, who was already subject to a suspended prison sentence for assault, also admitted shoplifting on October 11 when he stole meat and alcohol, worth £81, from Tesco.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £660 after he failed to name the driver of a Peugeot 207 who police suspected of committing an offence on March 22. The case against Sean Hardman, aged 26, of Parkfield Avenue, Farnworth, was proved.
