A ROUND-UP of cases heard by magistrates recently.
A MAN caught riding a stolen motorbike on Horsa Street, Bolton, without a licence or insurance has been electronically tagged. Liam Booth, aged 23, of Newlands Avenue, Bolton, pleaded guilty to handling a stolen motorcycle in November last year, riding it without a licence or insurance and resisting a police officer. He was made subject to a 7pm to 7am curfew for 30 days and was ordered to pay £200 in compensation.
A BANNED motorist who was caught driving a Citroen C5 on Manchester Road, Westhoughton, has been sentenced to 10 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. Louis Modlinsky, aged 34, of Old Lane, Little Hulton, that he has âan appalling record for driving offences showing a total disregard for the public and other road usersâ. Modlinsky pleaded guilty to driving whilst banned and having no insurance on August 14 last year as well as possessing two sealed snap bags of cannabis. He was banned from applying for a driving licence for 12 months and ordered to participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities.
MAGISTRATES have fined a man £120 after he fraudulently used a womanâs debit card without her permission. David Blake, aged 44, of Queensgate, Bolton, had denied committing the offence but did not turn up to his trial at Wigan Magistratesâ Court and was found guilty in his absence.
A THIEF who burgled the Boots store in Bolton town centre, stealing perfume worth £250, has been electronically tagged. Joshua Hambleton, aged 21, of The Croft, Westhoughton, initially denied committing the offence but changed his plea to guilty. He was sentenced to a 7pm to 7am curfew for 10 weeks and ordered to participate in 25 days of rehabilitation activities.
A WOMAN has been fined £120 after she admitted stealing food worth £169 from The Food Warehouse in Leeds on April 21. Zalistina Miclescu, aged 41, of Pansy Road, Farnworth, was also ordered to pay £180 in costs.
A DRUG-driver has been fined £80 and banned from holding a licence for 12 months. Lauren Smith, aged 21, of Lark Hill, Farnworth, pleaded guilty to driving a Toyota Aygo on Moor Lane, Bolton on December 4 last year after using cocaine.
A MAN who drove a Ford Focus on Design Street, Bolton on New Yearâs Eve without insurance has been fined. Ionut Velcu, aged 23, of Design Street, pleaded guilty to committing the offence.
Six points were added to his licence and he was fined £120.
